Celebrating another arbitration victory for our membership and our legal team!

After last October’s hearing, the arbitrator this week ordered TriMet to pay assistant storekeepers the wage rate of assistant supervisors, to comply with the bargained contract language. This remedy applies retroactively to the start of the current WWA on December 1, 2024.

Arbitration isn’t always fast, but it is often worth the wait. Wins like this ensure our members get the benefit of our hard-bargained negotiations with management.

One stand-out line from the arbitrator’s decision reads: “Under the duty of good faith and fair dealing implied in every labor agreement, a party cannot undermine the goal of a labor agreement by taking steps to prevent rights from ripening under its terms.”
