New Year - New Affirmations - Join an ATU Labor Caucus!

As we move into the new year, we are in the process of “rebranding” our union. We are drawing a hard line: “if it does not have our logo on it, we do not endorse it!” It is time the union defines what unions are, while not allowing outside entities to shape who we are in the workplace. These agencies are subtle in how they strip away unionism by using our members, by creating groups that make it seem that they are trying to create a great work environment but still allow abuse of workers to go unchecked. This is their way of isolating our membership from being able to bring our issues to the table as “equals” to address our issues within the workplace.

ATU's Caucuses serve an important role in shaping the identity of our union. These groups function within the Local Chapters to provide the backbone and diversity that make our Local strong. Caucuses and similar peer groups can help us navigate workplace stressors by providing avenues for managing mental health and other stressors within the workplace. After all, who knows our situation more than our peers? Everyone is welcome to join these groups, regardless of background, because diversity makes us stronger.

Local 757 Caucus groups have gone by the waste side over the years, but we would like to restart these groups to better address our members’ needs and provide a safe and affirming space to talk about the most impacting issues in our lives.
