ATU Local 757 Urges Local Transit Agencies To “Band Together” To Collectively Protest The Lack Of Safety For Frontline Transit Workers
Dec 27, 2024

Local 757 is urging our local transit agencies that employ our frontline members to show solidarity and support for our late brother and member of ATU Local 587 Shawn Yim, by inviting participation in an international bus procession scheduled for January 10th in Seattle, WA. The collective goal is to advocate and raise awareness of safety for transit workers and passengers across the nation. The response received from C-Tran's management and the support from the office of the MCDA during these challenging times are greatly appreciated.

Ensuring safe working conditions for transit workers MUST be a priority! Regardless of whether top agency executives are present in the office, ATU frontline workers are tirelessly out in the streets of our cities, operating in unsafe conditions providing transportation and other transportation related services to keep our cities running. We are hoping more of our local agencies that employ our members will join us in demonstrating solidarity and collectively support and advocate for safety in public transportation.

WE MUST push for changes that enhance the protection of our members!

(Please Note: Local 757 has contacted the top executives at the larger transit agencies which employ our members, except for Sam Desue the General Manager of TriMet, as per the directives outlined in his letter.)

Local 757 remains committed to providing full transparency to keep our members fully informed about our initiatives.
