ATU is leading the charge on new bipartisan legislation in the U.S. Congress that would require new transit buses to be equipped with fully enclosed bus operator workstations. This safety measure is intended to prevent the senseless and sometimes fatal attacks our members face, with transit workers being assaulted more than 40 times per day nationwide.

ATU 757 has sent letters to the general managers of every property we represent who would be impacted by this bill. We strongly urged them to sign the letter in support. ATU International collects these letters and sends them directly to Members of Congress as they work to develop the next federal surface transportation bill.

We are putting pressure on management to support this bill. We can all agree that safety is our top priority. With the passage of this legislation, we can make real progress toward improving safety for both transit workers and riders.
