Update on TriMet Contract

Dear TriMet ATU 757 Members,

Like you, we are excited to enter this new year with a new contract.  However, as with the implementation of any new Working and Wage Agreement, this one has not come without its obstacles.  We share in your frustrations, and want you to know that we are working hard to get important issues sorted out and clarified.  We have two Labor Management meetings scheduled with TriMet to do that.

Specifically, we are hearing from our members that TriMet is currently not honoring many new provisions in the Agreement.  The Union has not agreed to any extensions or delay for the use of new provisions other than those set out in the Agreement, nor delayed payment beyond the previously agreed to date of February 11. As said, we will be meeting with TriMet on this issue and will get answers to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you are denied holiday pay waiver, the use of a personal day, or the use of any other new bargained for right, please let your Union Representative know immediately.

We will also be meeting with TriMet concerning the issue of the second week of vacation holdback for operators. We know that this is an important issue to you and we are taking it very seriously.  We do not agree that removing the side letter, which laid out new conditions to holding a second week back, eliminates your long standing right to hold back a second week. We have agreed to meet with TriMet to discuss attendance issues, and will discuss the Second Holdback Week Incentive Program at that time.
