TriMet Sisters & Brothers:
We are happy to share with you that we have come to an Agreement with TriMet that will result in a decrease in discipline and demotions for new rail operators.
From now on, Rule Violations during an operator’s probationary period will be treated as Training Violations, meaning they will not result in progressive discipline. Furthermore, at the end of an operator’s probation, those violations from his/her probationary period will not be considered in progressive discipline moving forward.
In exchange, we did agree to extend the rail probationary period to 180 days. This probationary period is still subject to the grievance procedure. We are confident that this Agreement will lead to more TriMet operators having successful and rewarding careers as rail operators.
