Important Update on the Mercer Mess

TriMet members, we have an important update on the Mercer mess:

TriMet’s new Executive Director of Labor Relations, Kimberly Sewell, has notified ATU that there will be a special “Early Enrollment” period for eligible dependents who lost coverage due to the Mercer verification process.

If a member of your family was removed from your health insurance plan as a result of the Mercer dependent eligibility verification process, and they are eligible for that insurance coverage, you must submit a special Open Enrollment form (please see below) AND the required documents to prove dependents’ eligibility for coverage. If you have already appealed the termination of coverage and submitted required documentation to TriMet, then you will still need to submit an Open Enrollment form.

Dependents’ coverage would restart on November 1st (instead of January 1st).

All forms must be submitted to TriMet’s Benefits Department by October 29th, 2018. You can send them via snail mail to 1800 SW 1st Ave., Suite 300, Portland, OR 97201; via fax to (503) 962-7440; or via email to benefits@trimet.org. PLEASE NOTE that TriMet has developed special forms for the Early Enrollment process. If you are eligible to enroll through Early Enrollment, please use the following forms, which are due on October 29th:

Active members: http://www.atu757.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Active-employee-Early-Enrollment-form.pdf

Retirees: http://www.atu757.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Retired-member-Early-Enrollment-form.pdf

If you have any questions about this Early Enrollment period, please call the Union Hall at (503) 232-9144. We’re also here to help you submit the required documentation, and we have a fax machine that you are welcome to use, which will give you a way to confirm that the documents are submitted to TriMet.
