TriMet sisters and brothers, it’s that time of year again: thanks to the hard work of your ATU 757 Wage Committee in our last contract negotiations, you’re getting a raise this month! Happy early holidays!
Wages for all union-represented workers at TriMet went up 3.25% on December 1st, 2018. Since 2016, your wages have gone up a total of 9.5% because of our union contract. That’s more money in your pockets and in our community, at a time when non-union workers across Oregon and southern Washington are seeing their wages remain flat even as the cost of living goes up, up, up. This is just one of the many benefits of being UNION STRONG!
In the year 2000, the top wage for bus operators at TriMet was $18.04 an hour. Today, that’s up to $31.17. We’ve come a long way, and it’s because the members of this local have stuck together and fought for fair wages and working conditions.
Be sure to check your next paystub to confirm that you’re getting the correct pay rate. You can find a copy of the contract on our website, www.atu757.org, or by talking to any union officer. And if you encounter any issues with your pay or benefits, please talk to your local officer, or call us down at the Union Hall at (503) 232-9144.
We’re going to be hard at work negotiating our next contract at TriMet next year, which means that we need to hear from you about what you want us to fight for. You can submit your suggestions online at http://www.atu757.org/trimetbus or http://www.atu757.org/trimetrail
