Bay Area bus driver saves, reunites lost child with family

AC Transit bus driver Ari Megaro was on his normal route when he noticed a small boy riding a scooter alone. Sensing a potentially dangerous situation, the Local 192 member immediately brought his coach to a safe stop then calmly engaged the boy and got him on his bus. Megaro gained the boy’s trust by talking to him about their mutual love of skateboards. The 7-year-old boy, who had autism, had wandered miles from his home and his family had frantically contacted the police. The boy was reunited with his family thanks to Megaro’s quick thinking and action. AC Transit honored Megaro at a ceremony and we at the ATU salute him for his compassion and professionalism.
