At ATU’s 60th International Convention in September 2022, the delegates to the Convention unanimously adopted Resolution R, Building Safety, Power and Rights for LGBTQ+ Workers. Through Resolution R, we committed our Union to “fighting for LGBTQ+ equality,” using “our voice and strength to expose, contest and condemn discrimination in all forms,” and supporting “LGBTQ+ workers in the transit industry, including by encouraging the creation of an LGBTQ+ caucus and local LGBTQ+ caucus chapters.”

ATU members have created an LGBTQ+ caucus called ATU Pride. This is an independent organization uniting ATU’s LGBTQ+ members and allies around the common purpose of lifting up LGBTQ+ transit workers and advancing their interests.
