ATU 757 Members,

Recently, as you may or may not be aware, I made a mistake and was charged with a DUII. The incident took place late on the 26th and I instructed staff over the holiday to put it on our web site and ATU facebook account as soon as we returned from the holiday weekend (our staff was on holiday until January 3rd). I posted the news on my personal facebook account before it went to the media. When the media called, I responded with a statement immediately.

For those of you that are wondering why a union vehicle was involved, my job is not 9 to 5 but rather 24/7. I have missed all of about a week of work due to knee surgery in both knees in the past 10 years. My dedication to this great Union is as strong as it has ever been. That said, I do pay for my personal use of the car, however, I should not have been driving any vehicle in that condition.

Let me end by saying this. I made a mistake; I have no one to blame but myself. In addition to fully paying my debt to society, I pledge to continue to work hard for this great Union. I hope through my honesty, hard work and dedication, I will be able rebuild the trust that I may have lost from you and other members.
