Brothers and Sisters,
We are a week away from BAND-TOGETHER 2026.
September 20th-26th.
It is that time of year when we need to continue connecting with the riding public to raise awareness about the safety of transit workers. It is that time of the year to remember our coworkers, who are suffering and struggling with both physical and mental trauma, PTSD, and operating with diminished capacity just to make it through the day while working within transit.
This is a call for action!
Ask yourself: what is your transit agency doing to protect workers publicly? Where are the public campaigns? What are agencies doing to protect workers and riders? If the answer is nothing, then enough is enough; it is time for workers to stand with the riding public to demand safe transportation for everyone. For all workers who read this, “if we continue to do what we have always done, then we will get what we have always gotten” …nothing.
This call to action is simple: grab a band-aid, put it on your right cheek. When passengers say, “Why are you folks wearing those?” it opens the door to direct dialogue; we say, “We are raising awareness of transit worker safety.” And “transit worker safety is public safety.”
We are challenging everyone to stand up and stand together in solidarity!
Join us September 20th through the 26th for the 9th annual BAND-TOGETHER MOVEMENT 2026!
