Cascades East Transit Workers in Bend Rally for a Fair Wage

Our sisters & brothers at Cascades East Transit in Bend need our support!

Cascades East Transit fixed-route bus service is operated by a Washington-based company called Paratransit Services, which is currently negotiating a new contract with ATU-represented drivers, dispatchers/call takers, customer service representatives, and vehicle washers. Paratransit Services’ Bremerton-based CEO earns over $300,000 per year, but the company expects the frontline employees who provide CET service to accept $14 an hour with poor or no health insurance coverage. These low wages make it virtually impossible for CET workers to make ends meet, especially with the rising cost of living in Bend.

On Thursday, September 6th, workers and their community allies will rally at noon at Bend’s Hawthorne Station to demand that Paratransit Services offer a living wage and meaningful benefits to the people who actually provide transit service in and around Bend.
