AFL-CIO – Unionism Protects Freedom

The precious promises of our cherished Constitution were made by our nation’s founders as a bulwark for future generations. We are those generations. It’s our responsibility to use those freedoms for the benefit of all working people.

Let’s use the freedom of assembly to organize in our workplaces and our communities. Working people who can bargain alongside their co-workers earn better pay and benefits, and can win safer working conditions and better work-life balance.

Our freedoms work, even where some folks least expect it. The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, an affiliate of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), is bargaining for a first contract after recently winning a union election in Georgia in a Nestlé plant that makes chocolate milk powder.
